Health checkups

Information will be sent in mid-July to the home addresses of those eligible for FY2023 complete checkups, family health examinations, and individual cancer screenings (gynecology).
Health examinations for which the Health Insurance Society provides information are optional examinations available to those who want them. They differ from periodic health examinations provided by employers. Contact your employer’s contact point for periodic health examinations with any inquiries about such examinations.

Complete checkups (for insured persons and dependents aged 40 and older)

Eligible persons

Those meeting both conditions ① and ② below

  • ① Those who were members of the Recruit Health Insurance Society as of April 1, 2023 and remained members continuously through the date of the checkup
    • * If you were not a member at any time during FY2023, even if for just one day, you are not eligible for this checkup because you fail to meet the requirement for continuous enrollment.
  • ② Those 40 and older as of March 31, 2024
    * Those turning 75 during FY2023 are eligible to undergo the checkup through the day before their birthday.
Implementation period August, 2023 – End of February, 2024
Examination items

Basic complete checkup items provided by each examining institution

  • * Includes stomach cancer screening (stomach X-ray examination).
  • * Examination items vary by examining institution.
    Contact the examining institution directly for details of examination items.
Optional examination items Switching to gastroscope You may choose a gastroscopy in place of a stomach X-ray exam.
Cervical cancer screening Cervical cytology
Breast cancer screening You must pay the cost of the breast ultrasound exam yourself if you undergo both a mammography and breast ultrasound exam, regardless of whether the decision is made by the examining institution or at your request.
Examination costs

Pay the copayment of 10,000 yen at the hospital counter.
(20,000 yen at some examining institutions)

The Health Insurance Society will subsidize the remaining amount (40,000 yen on average).

  • * You must pay the total cost of optional examination items other than those specified.
  • * Note that those undergoing an examination without satisfying the eligibility criteria will be billed for the cost of the examination at a later date.
Making an appointment We are currently preparing for FY2023 complete checkups.
Details that include how to make an appointment as well as contact information will be provided on the Recruit Health Insurance Society website as soon as they are decided.
Other matters

Family health examinations (dependents and Voluntarily and Continuously Insured Persons aged 19 and older)

Health examinations for dependents (family members) and Voluntarily and Continuously Insured Persons aged 19 and older

* Those aged 40 and older may choose either a family health examination or a complete checkup.

  • ① Those who were members of the Recruit Health Insurance Society as of April 1, 2023 and remained members continuously through the date of the checkup

Individual cancer screenings [gynecology] (currently employed insured persons aged 19 and older)

Gynecological examination for currently employed insured persons aged 19 and older

* Not available for dependents and Voluntarily and Continuously Insured Persons

  • ① Those who were members of the Recruit Health Insurance Society as of April 1, 2023 and remained members continuously through the date of the checkup

  • ② Those 19 or older as of March 31, 2024

Contents Answering the 20 questions allows you to check your risk for cavities, periodontal (gum) diseases, systemic diseases, preventive habits.
Depending on the results of the questionnaire, please consider visiting a dental clinic.
